or a combination, and you will get info ad nauseum..... go with one of the sponsors who gives a good price break, and it isn't too painful for parts.
If you search on me mdj, you'll come across too many post's, too.
Your wagon has sway bars. If you upgrade the bars, go with the '02 up aero sway bars, as they are beefier than the earlier aero bars, and fit fine. They will make a huge difference on the sway/leaning. The rear is easy to install, the front is a bit of a pain. Search for tips...
IIRC, the '98 and '99 saabs had some early softness in the springs and also with rear shocks; eventually they went to new vendor for the springs. I've been VERY happy with my upgrade to aero springs. You will have to go with '00 or '01 aero springs; the later ones will not fit.
I've also been very happy with my bilstein shocks & struts. There was someone who felt they were too firm on bumpy roads. My "improved" suspension is light years smoother and more comfortable but firmer and better handling than my wife's Volvo 850 w/no upgrades. Of course that volvo is known to be a bit of a brick!
Re the comments on tires: Yes, the 17 inch aero or gary fisher wheels are an improvement for handling. At a big $$ premium to start with, and a bigger $$$ premium for retiring. They are also much more vulnerable to pothole damage. If considering tires, I'd upgrade the 16" wheels to the 225/50 - 16 plus zero sizing instead. They will give you a fairly similar footprint, at a MUCH cheaper price.
FWIW, 4 oem springs were just under $200, sway bars fr & rear were ~$180, and rear shocks were ~$160 for the parts when I shopped around. Labor extra! The changes will completely transform your ride, though! Good luck with it.
