battery removal

Hello all,
Sounds like a stupid question, but how do you remove a dead battery from a 2000 9-5 V6? The battery has a lip on both sides at the bottom, and is held in place by substantial clips on the support plate. There are no bolts that I can see. The battery is an old fashioned refillable one, with a drain hose on the top. Is this a special Saab battery that I am forced to buy from the dealer, or can I buy a maintenance free replacement at my local auto supply store? Thanks for your help. Al
