I was throwing two throttle body codes prior to replacing the old one (codes 1260 and 1251 -- check engine light was of course on and steady). When I replaced the old throttle body, I noticed that one of the hoses to the old one was bad, so replaced the hoses as well, at least as far back as I could feasibly trace them.
After taking the car to the dealer, all codes were cleared after the tech noticed that I did not get the large main (air?) hose tightened properly. (I watched him do all the work and we chatted as he did it.)
The new base idle runs about 950-1000 rpms (this is a 99 9-5 lpt automatic by the way). On my 04 Aero, base idle is 1100-1200. No vibration problems on Aero. When braking hard with the Aero or coming to a stop with the a/c on, rpms dip maybe to 800-850 for a second before the rpms bump back up. No problem.
But the lpt is set at least 250-300 rpms below the Aero. Coming to a hard stop or at a stop with the a/c on dips the rpms to 550-650 for a second or so before the rpms bump back up. In this range, the car nearly dies.
Both cars are operating similarly except for base idle speed.
The tech at the dealer tried to bump up the rpms with his tech 2 but the tech 2 would not let him.
If I brake left footed and use the right foot to operate the throttle and keep the rpms at 1000 or so, no problem.
My thought was that if this idle screw would move up the throttle stop a tiny bit, it would essentially do what I have been using my right foot to do.
