I learned a lot regarding the programming part, but unfortunately, the one common thread to both these systems as they apply to the 9-5 is that they work through an FM modulator and that is definitely inferior to a direct connection, which is not possible in the 9-5's audio system as it is installed in the car. The Terk XM Commander IS the unit that is offered through saab dealers, and yes, if you choose that unit, you can get it for a lot less than the dealer's installed price. I paid $170 for the unit, plus $75 to install it, and had it removed within a week due to the high level of hiss that comes from interfering stations. Others on this board have commented that the hiss did not bother them as much, and as they say, different horses for different courses. If there were a compatable satellite radio that would fit the 9-5's double DIN height slot, I would get it in a heartbeat. I just do not think that the FM modulator is the way to go. I suggest you listen to one that is in a car with the modulator before making your decision.
