Very interesting, similar experiance... Posted by ChuckD [Email] (#2127) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ChuckD) on Mon, 11 Apr 2005 13:52:50 In Reply to: Darn noisy NRWs, LesH, Sun, 10 Apr 2005 20:50:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
If you look back thru my posts here, I reported a very similar experiance with a set of WR's. I was convinced it was a wheel bearing issue. I've had bearings go on older Saabs and know the sound. Took it to a dealership who drove it and thought the same thing but couldn't find anything wronf with the bearings.
The RR had a bubble from a run-in with a snow-covered curb so replacement of two was on order anyway. When the the tires were replaced...the noise was gone! These WR's had ~30K miles on them.
Now (after I recently posted on the 9-3 board glowing reviews of them) the remaining two are starting to rumble with close to 35K miles. I stand by everything I said about them, especially as a year round tire. But it looks like they may have a built-in mechanism (intentional or not) warning that their lives are about at the end.
