Hmmm, manual, manual for performance equals Aero?
2004-2005 9-5 Aero has the latest styling update, I do like the new cow catcher up front. The Aeros got sport seats in 2002 and through 2005 look identical inside. There's actually no bad year. Some like the 3 piece BBS wheels of the 2000-2001 generation.
A new one can be had for $35kish, and that get's you a admission to the Aero Academy at Road Atlanta.
You don't have to get an Aero, you may not me a sport chassis, 17" wheel, sport seat kinda' fella and you wouldn't get the sport seats until a 2002 Aero. Even a 175hp 2.3lpt 99-2001 is a very satisfying car. The premium package with Harmon Kardon Sound and memory seats is nice stuff, an option on the base cars in all years, standard on the Aeros. BTW first year for the Aero is 2000
You might also be a very cool person and select a SportWagon, but sticks in SportWagons are even tougher to find than sticks in sedans. Some die hard stick fans actually have come to believe that the 5 speed autos are better suited to the car, but some of these same folks are losing it and can't remember to set the parking brake on a hill anymore.....
