The temp sensor is on the end of the head, battery end. Down a bit and party obscured by the TB feed pipe. If connection is not good (resistive), the temp indicator will drop to cold. A short would spike it. A two wire connector plugs into it.
I can't recall what the impeller is made of, but we do not see posts for the impeller falling off or eroding away. You are at miles where the pump or the pump to block adapter o-rings can be expected to create a problem. If the pump bearings are really bad, you can see that the pump drive wheel is tipped inward and getting close to contacting (and wearing trough) the timing chain cover. That does not happen very often.
