the potentiometers in the TB. In August last year my 9-5 2.3 2002 went into limp-home mode with CEL etc. Problem then solved by dealer with the TECH II and newest software. About 2 weeks ago it happened again ! This time there was no other solution than to change the TB. Dealer mechanic + Indy mechanic (Sweden) explained that the problem is that the oil leak problem generates oil that contaminates the potentiometers in the TB. These are not possible to clean. When they solved my problem in August -2004 they installed a new software that made the potentiometers more tolerant to oil contamination ! That is, pushing the problem further out of warranty if you like.
Anyway, I had a new TB installed on my expense and same dealer mechanic told me the new TB;s are enhanced in several respects. On being that the potentiometers are better protected against contamination in the new version. This means that this is a problem related to the PCV and/or other oil issues and should be covered by SAAB ! I have requested through the dealers that it be covered by SAAB expecially as they have this extended 8 yr warranty. Will keep you posted.
