Instead of looking at Edmunds, search the local classifieds for similar cars. I think this gives you a much fairer comparison price. For example, Edmunds said my '02 Aero (auto, low miles, excellent condition, no xenons) was worth ~$17.5. However, when I searched the classifieds, I saw many listing locally for the low $20s (my buyout was ~$20). Based on this, I was seriously considering buying it, but decided I liked the '05 enough (and got a good enough deal) to justify another round of leasing. Part of the reason I got a great deal was that the dealer had a buyer for my car in the showroom, and he actually sold my car the same day as I leased my new one. From my eavesdropping, I believe he sold it in the low $20s. A stick vs. auto might change things, but in some markets, a used Aero in good condition seems quite desireable.
