Tom:
You should absolutely know how often the oil was changed. Every 5K - 7.5K miles is great. If you can't verify that (a salesperson's word is NOT verification)...you may want to walk.
The good news is that I have a 2000 9-5 Aero...with 248K miles on it. It runs like new. I've only gone through 1 water pump at 80K miles...none since then. On the car you're looking at, the front struts may be good for another 20-40K miles. The rear shocks another 140K miles (I replaced my first rear shocks at 200K miles.)
At 60K miles be certain that you replace the serpentine belt AND all pulleys. The fuel filter and brake fluid replacement are two more must does....in addition to the major service.
Good luck!
