+300K miles on a 99 9-5 says it all. Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Sludge, Trucker, Fri, 6 May 2005 20:44:45 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
You could probably run whatever oil you want (even penzoil)in that engine with normal change intervals (10K intervals) and it would be just as happy.
Lots and lots of miles in a short time interval is the best you can ever do for an engine.
Clocking 300K miles in 6 years means that the engine is running A LOT at each start up.
That's how the taxicab cars gets so many miles without really any big repairs to the engine.
It is the normal people, or actually the short trip people that bear the brunt of the long oil change interval hysteria.
This is what an engine can look like in December 2004 on a 2001 9-3 with 16K miles and an oil change at 5K miles and the next one at 15K miles.
The customer WAS NOT HAPPY having to pay almost $500.00 for desludging the engine.
