I would agree with that. Given the low end torque of the Saab 9-5 turbo engine , combined with the fact that there is a "loss fo boost" and subsequent bit of turbo lag everytime we shift, a 5-speed is better suited to the engine if the gear ratio spread was nominally the same for both the 5 and 6 speed transmissions. I have a 5-sp manual in my 2002 9-5 Linear and I don't see any advantage of a 6th gear unless it was an extra overdrive one and the first 5 gears matched the existing ratios.
