GM doesn't make filters anymore...... What filter capacity they had at one time, AC Delco, was folded into Delphi or completely sold off a long time ago. I know that when I first got my 9-5 in 2000 the AC PF53 filter was identical to the Saab filter, complete with intermediate body crimp, and was made in England. Since then the PF53 has changed twice, the intermediate crim was the first thing to go, and more recently the top plate and interior have changed - appears to now contain less media.
Back in the mid to late '70's I dated a girl whose father owned a small factory in mid-Michigan. He manufactured oil and air filters for AC way back then!
