If you haven't had the crank shaft position (CKP) sensor replaced yet I would suggest that one to begin with.
It seems that the V6 sensor dies a lot more often than the 4 cyl one and the car always start up again and run fine when cooled down just to die again when really hot.
If the car would die again, open up the hood to speed up the cooling process of engine. If the car starts again after about 20-30 min of hood open, I bet it is the CKP sensor.
