The Cadillac of extended warranties, if you'll excuse the fractured metaphor, is the General Motors Protection Plan Major Guard. Warranties basically come in two formats. Bumper to bumper also known as exclusionary is the type of warranty that comes with a new car. It has a short list of exclusions, and everything else is covered. The other kind of warranty is a named component warranty. This type has groups of things covered, engine, transmission, electrical, with what looks like complete lists of covered components, but often what actually breaks is somehow not on the list.
A GMPP Major Guard is a bumper to bumper exclusionary warranty just like the original factory warranty. Typically the list price for a GMPP Major Guard on a 2001 Saab with less than 50,000 miles is $2,220 for a 36 month 36,000 miles warranty good from the date of purchase with a $50 deductible. Therer are many plans with more or less time or miles or a higher deductible or for cars with less than 36k or more than 50k. The plan I quoted take effect when purchased so you might want to wait until the original Saab warranty is alost up.
A 2001 9-5 Linear, hmmmm, no such thing. Linears were 2002's and up. A car can be manufactured in 2001, but is still a 2002 model year. Which is it and how many miles?
