Smoke on start up - White or blue? Posted by Johnson [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I posted a question this morning on reduced performance on hot days, and I think my car knew about it because when I started it up to get to work, a puff of smoke came out of the tail pipe. Last week I had an oil hose burst that went from somewhere on the back of the engine, right above the axle, and cat converter to the oil pan. ( it pored out about a L, terible smoke the whole way home, spraying the oil on the cat converter!) Would this have something to do with the turbo, would it bursting affect the turbo at all? and would the smoke coming from the tail pipe have anything to do with this occurence? I was playing with the radio when i started up the car, and noticed th smoke just as it was going away, so I am not sure if it was white or blue, I did a search on both, and was confused by all the information. What things do I can to check out to see what the cause is? and if it is something as serious as the turbo going bad what are the best options to fix it? I read something about a turbo bering kit, and rebuilt turbos. and has anybody done this kind of work themselves? (I am a bad DIY person.) Thanks!
