It is important to clarify what you are talking about.
A "true" rough idle, is when the engine varies in speed somewhat abruptly, which can also be associated with misfires, or it turning off.
The vibration we all feel from the 9-5 4-cyl engine is a constant vibration which occurs at idle speeds, even though the engine speed may be somewhat constant.
Often in discussions the two are equated.
Other than speeding up the idle speed to overcome the idle resonance, there is little that can be done to overcome the vibration.
True rough idle is another matter though.
