When I first bought the Aero I assured myself that I would do nothing to the car until I paid off half of my loan...yeah right. *grin*
It's hard!
Yesterday, I had trouble starting in damp conditions, I popped the plastic battery cover to discover a dinosaur of battery - had to be OEM.
I am now on the hunt for the right Optima Red Top, can anyone help me out with a part number? 75/25, 75/35? My local costco has the 75/35 and their fitment guide was of no help...
Today, for example, I somehow stumbled upon Deans Infinity CF 32.5 thread and decided to swap my front shelf L/R speakers. I went with the Boston acoustics S35 for $49 from an online source; I didn't want the fit issues associated with the raised tweeters and external xovers.
Question: I did some reading on the Basslink 10" powered and I think this is the solution for me. I had something similar on my old Subaru where a self powered 8" box plugged right into my factory harness and slid under the front seat. I am not looking for chest thumping kick but would like to add some oomph to the low end. I have the AS3 on a 03 Aero.
Questions:
1- Should I go with the Basslink system in the trunk or can I acheive similar results by upgrading the rear shelf 6X9's to something better? I was thinking Boston Acoustics S95's to keep it uniform.
2- The S95 6X9's come in two flavors, three way and two way. Are the H/K six by nines a two way speaker or are they just a midrange woofer? Which one should I go with for replacement, what happens if you replace a mid woofer with a two way speaker?
3- I didn't read much about the front door speakers and what kind of improvement can be acheived by swapping them out; is that because people don't want to deal with tearing apart their doors? 6/6.5" in there? The rears are not worth the hassle but I imagine some good fronts doors could bump up the clarity.
I'm not an audio nut and I do not want to start major wiring jobs, I enjoy keeping things as stock as I can. I am also not very well read in these things so please keep the responses as dumbed down as you can :)
Thanks,
Tom
