So from a fitment point of view, not much better than the CF32.5's. The process of lowering is not filing, but placing the speaker and making a vertical cut around the edge of the speaker, then remove and follow up with a horizontal cut to remove the padding layer from the hard plastic below. This does not take long to do once you know what you need to do.
What you did may change as you have bent the plastic and the residual stresses will relieve as things move a bit.
A unit with an external x-over will always be better then a tweeter that has a tiny bi-polar electrolyic capacitor. But almost anything will sound better than the stock paper cone drivers.
The 32.5CF has flying leads. Otherwise, add your own, and twist, fold double, solder and flatten with smooth jawed pliers to around .8mm, then simply insert into the factory connector and fold over that and secure with a wire tie as a strain relief.
Did you find the posts that document the polarity of the factory wiring?
