I have a 03 Aero model and already have put 85k on it. I drive about 3k per month and use it for my job which I do get reimbursed 41 cents per mile. My profit margin is deeply affected by these high gas prices. I have done a lot of personal studies on the MPG and here is what I get these days;

31.5mpg with an avg.speed of 74mph, AC on, 90% intersate driving.
34.1mpg with an avg.speed of 54mph, AC off, state hwys. at~60mph.
28.6mpg overall avg.from a full tank of gas, AC on, SID reset each time.

Of course, your mpg will go down when you rely on the turbo boost a lot. I look at it this way, this is a great car for the times......good gas mileage from a 4cyl. engine and the acceleration when you really need it or want it from the turbo which is similar to any 8cyl engine. Ultimately the best of both worlds! I have noticed my best mpg from keeping the tach around 2000rpm which is also around the 55-60mph range.

I have also been able to get around an extra mpg. from keeping my tires at 42psi, which is also recommended to help compensate for the early tire wear from the high negative camber on the tires, and also by switching to full synthetic oil. I got right at an extra mpg. just from the oil switch alone! My car is due for the 90k service pretty soon, which will put new spark plugs in, so it will probaby help out too. By the way I have been using the 89 octane for quite some time without much loss of power. The 93 is the best, but it is just too hard to shell out the extra dough for it right now. I put a tankfull in once and a while and there is a noticable improvement in power. I sometimes fill up with it when I travel the back roads of Florida and need the extra passing speed on the two-lane roads!

Happy trails,
ChuckH
