Tranny, suspension.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: '00 Aero vs '05 Arc questions, Scott, Tue, 13 Sep 2005 09:23:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I think the 220hp Arc motor is pretty near Aero spec and many folks, even die hard stick drivers, praise the 5 sp auto and it's compatibility with the Saab turbo. It may have a few less horsepower than your 2000 Aero, but the combination engine and auto tranny combo I think wins out. I hadn't noticed any diffence in steering wheel size, just the lack of the sport wheels perforations and bumps. The revised front suspension and steering introduced in 2002 is a very subtle change. I find the newer design to have more natural turn in and less kick back or resistance mid turn, smoother more linear response. The newer cars also got bigger anti-roll bars and everyone seems to think handling is improved.
You gotta' come up here to Oceanside, San Diego's original Saab dealer, and drive an Aero, while I've still got one. If you liked the Arc you'll love a new Aero.
