Well, I wouldn't start the fault tracing as what WIS says for that code since they say to disconnect sensor wire and measure for voltage and ground.
That's fine and dandy if it wasn't for that you need to drop the tank for that.
The older 9-5 had problems with the tank cracking around that sensor but that would more set a EVAP leak code.
I would probably tap into the wires going to the sensor where it is easy to reach and study the signals with a labscope hoping that something happens that could bring more light to if the sensor is indeed bad or if it is a glitching wire or ECU.
I would like to know if the 5 volt signal going from pin 46 on ECU out to the pressure sensor pin 1 stays stable at 5 Volt when it happens or if that reference voltage drops down or spikes. That would tell me more of what's happening.
I would also check the ground signal from pin 70 of ECU out to pin 2 on sensor to look for a fluctuating ground signal and then the tank pressure signal going back to ECU pin 59 from pin 3 on sensor.
All this is easy IF??? the problem occurs when you test drive the car. If nothing acts up you have absolutly nothing to go on and could either say "problem could not be recreated" or start throwing parts at the car.
I have not heard that those sensors goes bad but then again, they did come out with a new sensor in 2002 so I wouldn't be too surprised if they found a new (cheaper) manufacturer of the part and now we'll see them fail?
