These can be the some of hardest problems to solve - a noise from an unknown source at the rear of the car. I had one in a 2001 Prelude, a popping noise when going over bumps at low speeds. It took at least 4 visits and a few suspension parts before they found it. They had to take out everything from the trunk and also the rear seats - right down to the bare metal, and then having the service advisor ride around in the trunk. The popping noise was from stiffening plates Honda added to the rear suspension towers and the floor of the car - they would pop like a tin can does. Removing the plates and reinstalling them with silicone underneath did the trick. In your case I
think it is the shocks, but the again that was my first suspect with the Prelude.
