The instrument panel is a big improvement. There's something to be said for the simplicity of the old one (I've got an '03), but I think they'd taken it too far. Our '00 Civic has a nicer instrument panel than our 9-5.
As for the radio & climate controls - time will tell. They do look very much like the other GM units that are coming out this year, the question is do they retain the Saab look/feel/texture/colors/etc? If it's actually the exact same parts from Malibus and Tahoes, it's a disaster. If it's the same button layout and basic operation, but remains Saab-ish, they should be fine.
