Regarding the idle:
Saab has generally preferred to use smaller but more efficient and torquey turbocharged 4 cylinder engines rather than bigger and less efficient 6 or 8 cylinder engines. Saab turbos use unique and advanced ignition and engine management systems to extract, what can be simplified as, "V6 power from a smaller engine with the fuel economy of a 4 cylinder."
However because of the inherent properties of a 4 cylinder engine, it idles less smoothly than a 6 or 8 cylinder. This is not a problem in any other way, than it might bother some people who don't want to hear or feel the engine running.
Regarding maintenance:
The Aero doesn't require more maintenance than other 9-5s. Like them all it requires you use a good quality fully synthetic oil and change it every ~5000-7000 miles or less if it's driven very little.
Regarding the ride/handling:
You can get the Aero suspension installed on the other 9-5 models, and if that's not sporty enough there are several aftermarket alternatives all the way up to super expensive adjustable racing coilovers.
Best regards
