I just had mine done at the 96,000 km (60,000 mi) major service.
The cogged timing belt and labour to install ARE covered by Saab as stated in writing in the service schedule of your owner's manual. No time limit is given.
The dealer price for the expensive tensioner/pulley assembly was $279 CAD; no more than buying from a site sponsor in the US. The other single idler pulley was quite a bit less at about $46 US from eEuroparts.com
The dealer only charged an extra $90 CAN to install these parts while they had the covers off to do the belt. So I paid a total of about $425 CAD or $360 US to have the tensioner and idler done at the same time as the free belt replacement.
BTW, I also had the accessory serpentine belt and it's tensioner/idler pulley installed incl in the same $90 labour charge. I brought those in from eEuroparts with the $46 timing idler pulley and some other items that were QUITE a bit less than the dealer prices. Odd how the expensive timing tensioner assembly was such a decent price from the dealer.
$900 is WAAAAY too much!
