Ok, so SAAB USA will not pay for it. They claimed they've already used up their "goodwill" on me last year when they paid $1,000 of a $1,300 synchro-mesh tranny repair kit and labor. I explained the NSHTA files and they said 2000-2002 only. I have already filed an electronic complaint with the ODI (see VOQ confirmation number 10141097 on the ODI website). I'll call them as well
As for the dealer they are not budging on the $750. I have spoken to SAAB USA and have opened a complaint file and the Regional Service Manager will be contacted. Dealer's name will be made available by me here once the issue is resolved (no sense making it public until we see what they will do). This dealer has received ALL of my business since 2000 as well. Have sent a faxed letter to the service manager and general manager of dealer to see if I can get some traction.
All of this is on the heals of 2 weeks ago having the water pump break while 500 miles away from home on a family vacation.
To all who posted, my sincere thanks. This site has saved me countless $$$ in the past. Its a great resource to those who love cars but really don't know a lot about them.
Will update as situation resolves.
