If it gets a weak signal, just seek for another... Posted by CrNiFe [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Weather Band radio question....., JohnS, Tue, 22 Nov 2005 18:24:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hey WB is why I bought my MY00 9-3... and I miss it in my MY05, but use it in the MY99 9-5 SW all the time.
Sometimes, in a border area, I will pick up the US National Weather Service instead of Environment Canada, so I just seek until I get one that I can hear clearly. It generally finds the strongest local station, and assumes that is the one that you need. But like politics, all weather is local, and it should be able to tell you, in that mechanical voice, on the hour and half hour, where it is located. You might want to check the names of the counties you will be driving through, because warnings are often issued by county, not just big city names.
The best part about WB is that you are only a few minutes away from the forecast, instead of waiting for a local radio station to fill you in, if you can find it with AS.
Safe driving in the mountains. I hope you've got your winter kit (shovel, blanket, candles, food, water and first aid kit) in the trunk or the back seat.
Cheers from Toronto
