Thanks for the reply. I assume from your message that you are still running as described and have not installed the last (4th) PCV modification. I believe that the last one is basically the same as your reversion, but with a slightly different size hole in the oil trap. I originally had the mod done to mitigate an oil leak, which it corrected, very well. However, as it appears is typical, my oil consumption went from none to ~1qt./2000 mi. That's not horrible but, the fact that it went from nothing to that much tells me that the oil was going through the PCV system and throttle body which I don't think is very good.
The only concern that I have now is whether or not the leak that was corrected by the modification will reappear with this reversal. You didn't mention an oil leak so I assume that you don't have one, currently, but I don't know if you ever had one before you installed the modification that you reversed.
I'll go ahead and reverse the mod like you described and see what happens with the consumption and leak. I've been a Saab owner for 30 years but this whole PCV issue has tested my faith; you would think that they could get it right before four modifications within as many years.
Again, thanks for your help! Let me know about your oil leak situation if you get the opportunity and desire. I'll be at Home Depot, tomorrow, hunting for that brass barbed connector.
