Can someone explain this to me? I have a 2003 V6 SW that is CPO'd and is ready for the 60 K maintenance. As we all know the timing belt is covered but the pulley is not (385 at my dealer). Theory is the pulley is not bad now. Obviously I will replace both. However, when I was talking to the dealer he said that if I don't replace the pulley now, the engine can go, and if that happens, then the whole thing is warrantied. Why would Saab put themselves in this postion? If they covered the pulley they wouldn't have to cover an engine, or is just the law of averages they are working with; X number of engines compared to y pulley's--- Seems very strange
