True, for many, it's just a button that bugs.. for me, in the line of work I do, it's a cheap assistant, helping me with directions, probably 4 times a week. I have used it for booking hotel rooms, finding gas in a foreign area, identifying where my car was when it was stolen (ok- I mis-read a sign and it got towed, but I THOUGHT it was stolen), identified the closest open hardware store in a household emergency, helped find me when I got a flat in a freaky neighborhood.. and bundled in with the fees I pay, I get 'free' 411 info, which saves me on my cell phone bill, about $30 a month (at $1.50 a call). It offers handsfree calling when I need to keep my hands on the wheel and from another carrier than mine, which helps in a pinch when I or my crew have no cell service. I even have called in drunk drivers using it, since then they know where I am, thus where the dangerous driver is. So, except for the lockout feature, which I've never needed to bother with.. I use it like a tool, and when used hard, it's pretty amazing. Call it blondestar or whatever, I call it priceless. I do understand why some are not 'getting' it, but what few understand all the things it CAN do.. and knock on wood, I've never needed it to notify anybody that my airbags went off, but you bet, if that happened, I'll be further convinced. Once you've had a hideous accident, you want all the help you can get.
