Hey Gang,
I need some help this time;
1)--------------------------------------------------
I installed brand new rotors and pads a month ago. Recently, as you may have read, I took a 250 mile trip through slush, snow, rain, ice and inevitably; road salt and possibly sand.
During the post haul car wash I noticed rear rotors are covered with what looks to be a yellow/orange rust colored film. Also, when I first get going in the morning my rotors emit a horrible grinding sound coupled with a vibrating feel in my gas pedal (not brake pedal). I can feel this vibration when rolling down the first few blocks. After a few hard stops the grinding is gone but when stopping I think I can still feel a grinding sensation and it does not stop as smooth as it once did.
I mentioned this to my mechanic and he said he'll look at it but I could not get the service done that day because no 3309 ATF was in stock. I will be heading in soon but I'm wondering.
What the hell got in there?
Sand? Salt? Do I need to surface rotors and pads? or just remove and clean....rotors were pristine just last week. How many miles can I drive with this before I cause significant grooving in the rotors?
I have ceramic pads in the rear and my rotors were always free of deposits.
2)------------------------------------------------
My seat has become lose, it moves back and forth when stopping/accelerating. I am aware this topic was discussed but I do not think this falls into the plastic gears bucket. At first I though the plastic gears were to blame but this play gets considerably worse week after week after week, this leads me to believe that this is a loose screw on a rail. I think I have isolated this to the right front part of the drivers seat. Does anyone know what to look for? I didnt have time to dive in there...are there four main screws visible or do I need to remove parts of the seat?
What the hell happened to my rotors?
Thanks,
Tom
