General thoughts on wagon's life span

Just throwing this out to get some ideas from the board. Currently have a 99 9-5 wagon with 176k on it. Have all the records, car is running fine and have only had to replace the fuel pump and water pump since I purchased this summer. Generally speaking, I LOVE this car. I only paid $6000 for it so am well below book but I am curious, when is a car "dead" and not worth putting money into in your opinions? In the big picture, I keep thinking that if something big happens it is worth say replacing or rebuilding the engine given the relative "new" age and relatively little money that I have in it but the other side of the brain says it has a lot of miles and even if the big things are good, little stupid things have got to start wearing out sooner rather than later. Seeing Herb HIrsh and Ian Glenday lead me to believe that I should just get in, drive and keep it running. Thanks for input, ideas or thoughts.
