Steve:
Thanks so much for all that information. I was assuming that the car was no longer under warranty since the free scheduled maintainance expired last summer, but if the warranty is 4 years, then I should be ok.
The part that I sloppily referred to as the "turbo" was in fact the turbo sensor hose, which had a leak; their diagnostic code P-1105.
And I do have the record of the clip replacement, I just didn't recognize it as such in the service records because of the language they used.
I have had the car since new, it has always been serviced at the same dealership, Dave Towell in Akron, Ohio. In fact, their mechanic also worked on my 1991 Saab 900S when he had his own shop. The 9-5 has never been in an accident. When the assembly fell out, there was a metal clip loosely attached to a plastic spur in the center of the assembly, but it is evident that the plastic tab to which it was attached is broken - I can see the break and I saw what should be there when I searched for the part on the internet and found a photo. So something caused the plastic to break, but it was not an accident or anything that I am aware of.
Thanks for your help!
Andrew
