The SID now lives in the speedo window and can now be accessed from steering wheel buttons, and improvement I think.
The styling is refreshing and dynamic for the same old shell.
I share you concerns regarding the interior. VW/Audi has become known for their quality interiors, BMW took a big step up with the 2006 E90 3 series. Saabs just don't have the bling found inside much of the competition. My 2000 9-5 dark burled walnut dash looks much richer than anything from Saab lately, and extends down into the console too unlike an '06.
The 9-3 2.0Ts with the premium package have really nice wood inserts on the doors and consoles so someone at Saab continues to have some taste in wood.
New interiors in GM products can be impressive, we'll see if that carries over to Saab.
