You will get better power and perhaps better MPGs with premium. So the savings may be partly illusionary. You will get less MPG's with fuel posted with higher ethanol (10%), so the cost at the pump may be higher than it seems.
Many run mid grade with no adverse effects.
A auto mag article years ago tested vehicles for MPGs with different octane fuels and the Saabs did have higher than average drop in MPGs on low octane fuel. You can test this out yourself with the SID.
While you are on the octane economy subject, you should inflate the tires to 37F, 35-36F. Lower speeds to save fuel as well.
Get 20 ounce bottle of Tecrhon Concentrate and add to fuel as directed. Then use the smaller bottle of TC every 8K or 3x/year. The best synthetic oils also save fuel.
It would be good for you to check and be aware of the state of the plugs and what exactly is in there. NGK BPCR6ES11s gapped to .036-.-37 work very well and cost about $2.50 ea instead of over $12 ea.
