That doesn't sound good Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Wed, 1 Mar 2006 16:47:48 In Reply to: WARM ENGINE NOISE, Brett M., Wed, 1 Mar 2006 13:51:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Without knowing from what side of engine it is coming I can't say.
It is fully possible for a cracked vaccum hose under full manifold vacuum to create a sound like that, just like you can wistle using your lips.
But it could also very well be a bearing from either the serpentin belt pulleys or the timing belt pulleys.
Next step would be to use a 15mm wrench and grab the nut on the serpentin belt tensioner pulley and apply light pressure for and aft to see if the noise changes in any way.
If you can't make it change, remove the serpentin belt and check again for the noise. If the noise is still there, you need to remove the timing belt cover and check and listen to the timing belt pulleys.
