On my 9000 and other front wheel cars I've worked on, I thought that the hub was fitted on splines and could be removed with a wheel puller without having to mess with the half shafts.
I recall lubing the wheel bearings front and rear somewhere over 100k on my 9000 and they were pretty dry. I've posted on here several times asking if it is possible to grease the wheel bearings on the 9-5, but everyone seems to just replace them - I'm old school and believe in preventive maintenance, and I'm also cheap - why pay $ 160 to replace a bearing when hopefully one can lube the thing up. these lifetime sealed bearings are just bs and never seem to hold up well on higher milage vehicles.
