As I have mentioned before in a post.
Car manufacturers does not support jump starting a modern car (especially with a completly dead battery) due to the intricate computer network system.
They cannot guarantee that the network doesn't take a hit and create some strange glitches.
What they want you to do is to charge the existing battery for awhile with a donor car before trying to start but that is not possible in a case like this when the battery is shorted out refusing to take a charge.
I know you don't agree but this is just another thing to think about with modern cars before blasting away with super duper jump start.
As you might know (or at least your service department) is that a new battery charger has been approved recently by GM and other car manufacturers (Volvo is another).
Midtronics PSC-550 is the name of it.
It is especially developed for keeping the battery charged at a certain voltage level when doing software downloads due to the extra risks of creating a glitch when changing the software.
It puts out a steady stream of 13.6V DC instead of the fluctuating ~12.0-14.0V AC that regular battery chargers pumps out.
