The main seal may be perfectly fine. It may be leaking because of excessive crankcase pressure. First thing to check is that the PCV checkvalve is working right, as it could allow boost pressure to get into the crankcase. There are also problems with the PVC system that created these same problems. These items would be easy to check and cheap to fix if required.
The head bolts should be retorqued and they may easily find some loose that can cause HG leaks to the outside of the engine. Many DIY this.
If the HG was leaking gas past the sealing ring, that could pressurize the crankcase and/or the cooling system. As a rule, once a HG leaks that way, it is typically replaced. I don't know if a compression test would make a HG leak of this type show up, perhaps not, but if compression is not acceptable, then the HG or worse needs to be fixed. If there is a compression problem from the pistons or rings, then that would explain high crankcase pressures as well.
The PVC hard pipe might have a problem. One could easily check the "banjo bolt" at the turbo inlet pipe. There were some that were not made right years ago, but I can't recall the specifics.
Coolant pumps can go bad, might not be any connection or pattern.
