I did this too, but then decided to find out at what level the engine cuts out, and found it to be roughly 6500rpm. Yes, higher than redline, and when you run through the gears in "paddle-shift mode," the engine will actually rev to that 6500rpm, even after you shift to the next gear, before reaching the redline, sometimes.
