I decided to use 235/45/17s like the '06 9-5's and they fit fine, no rubbing etc. The size difference over the stock Aero's 225/45/17 is minimal but I figured the modest extra width and sidewall couldn't hurt.
As others noted, it is advised to use 7.5 inch or 8 inch rims for the 235's.
