The CPO is 6 years from the in service date or when the car was new. The 48 month 40,000 mile GMPP MajorGuard is from when you purchase it and is availible at that price/rate up to 36,000 miles and whenever the rate chart flops over to 07's which was October 1st last year in 2005.
The CPO is a factory Saab warranty administered by the Saab dealer. Never any muss or fuss at a Saab dealer with CPO. The GMPP is an outside warranty that requires pre-approval from an outside warranty administrator and may or may not be accepted or honored by your local Saab dealer. You might have to pay up front and get re-imbursed by GMPP, which can be a hassle.
The Saab CPO excludes batteries, radios and telematics/OnStar. The GMPP won't cover a battery either, but doesn't exclude the radio.
If your local Saab dealer is also GM, no sweat.
