The T7 engine management software contains what Saab calls "adaptive control" or something similar which teaches itself the driver's driving habits and desires. In other words, drive your car hard and the computer will learn that you want the hard punch and quick acceleration. Baby your car away from stoplights and it will learn that you like a smooth, ocean liner like, rate of acceleration.
It sounds as if your car has been babied by previous drivers, not a bad thing. Saab says it can take up to 100 miles for the software to learn your driving style. There is also instructions on Genuinesaab's website on how to reset the ECU to max performance much quicker, hard acceleration up a long hill without downshifting IIRC.
