SWEEDCAR,
I rigged the relay with short leads and two test lamps. 86 and Gnd., 85 and Pos. However, when I try to connect between 85 and Pos, either off of pin 30 (with the relay inserted) or from the large red wire leading into the relay box,(with the relay inserted) the starter kicks, without the key in. The test lamp lights on this circuit when that happens. If I keep it connected, the starter just continues to run. I've double checked three times and know that there is no short between pin 85 and 87 or 87a. Could this mean the relay itself is bad? If I break this connection, and start the car normally, the other test lamp (between 86 and ground) lights briefly. So far I don't have a no start condition.
