Ok
So for some or another reason, the relay "steals" ground through pin 86 and gear selector switch so when you feed power to pin 85 through the bulb, it trips the relay.
What you need in that case is a very very small bulb (wattage) or better yet one of the new test lights that use LEDs instead of an old fashioned bulb.
Measuring on the ground circuit like I told you can be a little bit tricky since some power is always going to flow through the bulb filament and mess up the result.
Maybe just for now, leave the 86 to ground in until the problem happens again.
If that bulb stays lit while the no crank occurs, my gut feeling is that it is the ground signal from TWICE that disappears.
Which is a whole chapter in itself since many things can tell the TWICE not to ground that relay.
