Sorry for the confusion. Answers in CAPS:
I didn't even know you could poke out the chip so if that's what they did, I don't know. Maybe they destroyed it? I DON'T KNOW EITHER. MY SHOP WON'T EVEN TRY - THEY JUST SAY IT WON'T WORK.
And also, why would they want to keep the push buttons of the remote without the chip??? DON'T KNOW EITHER - TO SELL THE REMOTE I GUESS? DON'T SEE ANY OTHER REASON WHY HE WOULD DO IT BUT I SURE WISH HE SENT ME THE ENTIRE REMOTE...NOT JUST THE CHIP.
And you are talking about the key fobs? So are you planning to go back to the 2000 and older setup with a seperate key and remote control? NO, IS ALL IN THE NEWER "ALL IN ONE" KEY. I GUESS USING "FOB" ISN'T THE RIGHT TERM.
Your 2003 came with the newer all-in-one key. YEP.
AGAIN, THANKS FOR STRUGGLING WITH THIS. MAYBE IT'S A COMPLETELY NEW PROBLEM BROUGHT ON A BY A STRANGE EBAY SELLER... TOTAL BUMMER SO FAR HERE...
