The RPMs seem to drop at normal rates and it seems to run fine (at least after dealing with the throttle body issue).
Presumably, if the Mass Air Flow system was not sending a signal to the ECU, it should set a code given that it's at the heart of the engine management system.
The info that I have from AllData for the error code is copied below. This makes me wonder whether there could be a problem with the crank position sensor. I'm hoping that someone has some experience that would help illuminate the issue.
........
P0100
Mass Air Flow Circuit. No Signal.
Fault symptoms

* Engine speed drops slower than normal when the accelerator is released.
* Possible misfiring before DTC is generated.

* No frequency for more than0.5 s.
