I have the same vehicle. Bought it off-lease three years ago for $15,000 with 70,000 on it. At 94,000 now and have had no major problems that have left me stuck.
The car had not had the 60,000 mile service when I purchased it so I did it myself - about $300 for all the parts and fluids. I also replaced the brake pads all around with Akebono ceramics (much less dust on the beautiful factory BBS wheels).
Other than this regular maintenance I have:
- Replaced the SID ($250 - I knew this would be required going in so I paid accordingly)
- Replaced the DIC ($300 - hopefully getting this refunded on the recall)
- Replaced the stop on the driver's side blend door ($16 - I got lucky and caught it before it broke the shaft)
- Cleaned corrosion off the memory seat button that was making it jerk when moving ($0)
- Replaced the driver's side turning light socket due to corrosion/short ($16)
- Replaced the glovebox light/switch due to it squeaking unmercifully ($20)
However, even with this list of repairs if I get the DIC money back I've still only invested around $400 beyond maintenance (and the bulk of that was the SID). Even with maintenance I'm still under $1000 total and the car feels and drives like it's new.
I've had Audi's, Benz's, BMW's, Fiats, Lincoln's, Caddilacs, among others and of all the cars I've owned my two favorites have been SAABs (this one and anm '89 9000 turbo). I was originally going to replace it next year when the wife's SUV is paid off, but I'm seriously considering having it re-painted instead and putting the car payment money in the bank for a down payment on the next generation 9-5 (assuming GM doesn't screw it up too badly).
