I would steer clear of the 1999 9-5. I bought a 1999 9-5 SE V6 in 2003 with 25,000 miles on it and had nothing but trouble with it. In the 5,000 miles I kept it, the ABS Pump failed ($2,000), the engine seal failed, the DIC failed, a tie rod link wore out, muffler rusted out, car stalled at stops and needed a software update, the ACC pixels went out, got the dreaded code 8 with the ACC, etc. It was non stop. I bought it used from a local Honda dealer and was a very low mileage, one owner car that seemed to be all there. I currently have a 2003 9-5 Aero, and am very happy with it. Every first year car my family has ever had has been awful. (2004 Touareg; 1999 Grand Cherokee; 1998 Navigator). My opinion is based on my bad experience.
